The four day festival introduced the unique and specific cultural features of the various regions of Vietnam to both the Vietnamese people and international friends, contributing to glorifying and promoting the cultural identity of Vietnam’s different ethnic minority groups.

It drew the participation of more than 1,000 artists, actors and actresses from 20 provinces and cities nationwide, all representing the unique and specific culture of their region.

During the festival, an exhibition entitled “Specific Cultures of the Regions” was held to introduce the specific cultural identities of a land with a thousand years of culture; the cultural identities of Vietnam’s different regions and the cultures of various ethnic minority groups nationwide; and a collection of Vietnamese folklore paintings, done in the traditional style of Hang Trong, Kim Hoang and Dong Ho, and paintings from the Tay, Nung, Dao and Cao Lan cultures.

The festival not only glorified and promoted the cultural identities of the regions, but also improved people’s awareness of the need to preserve and promote the valuable cultural values of the nation. This drive helped encourage the festival’s organizers and cultural workers to organize such a unique and encompassing festival and to prepare for the 1,000th anniversary of Thang Long – Hanoi in 2010, said Huynh Vinh Ai, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and the head of the festival’s organizing board.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism presented 29 certificates of merit to groups that had made positive contributions to the success of the festival.
